Jawi and the Malay Manuscript Tradition

June 30 - July 18, 2014
This intensive course will enable students to read Malay and Indonesian written in Jawi (Arabic based script). Instructors will introduce students to key resources such as dictionaries, electronic resources and catalogues. Many of the materials discussed in class are in London collections, and students will have the opportunity to view them during visits included in the course. Students should have intermediate-level knowledge of Malay or Indonesian. It is not necessary to have any knowledge of Jawi.
