CFP: Chinese and Japanese Encounters in Colonial Southeast Asia

This workshop aims to explore the relations between Chinese and Japanese in colonial Southeast Asia to contextualize the Pacific War experience, examine the limits of the "anti-Japanese patriotic Chinese" narrative, and investigate the complexity of interaction and competition, friendship and hostility, partnership and collaboration between Japanese and Chinese from the late 19th century to the end of the Pacific War.  Send an abstract (max. 300 words) to both organizers, Peter Post, NIOD (peterpost67@gmail.com) and Timothy Tsu, Kwansei Gakuin University (timothy.tsu@gmail.com), before June 30, 2014.
