Postdoctoral Fellowships: Department of Anthropology, Stanford University

The Stanford Department of Anthropology seeks postdoctoral fellows to participate in a Templeton-funded project on spiritual curiosity, comparative phenomenology and local theory of mind that uses both ethnographic and experimental methods, combining anthropology and psychology. Five postdoctoral fellows will work together over a two-year period of time, with the first year devoted to training and field research and the second to writing at Stanford. This is a team project. Postdoctoral fellows will share fieldnotes, collect specific kinds of data and interviews, and publish both a single-authored book and single and multi-authored articles. Ideal candidates will have prior fieldwork experience and language competence in one of the following: rural Vanuatu or other Pacific setting; Brazilian Amazonia; Ghana; Tamil Nadu; Thailand; and, the United States. Candidates with field experience elsewhere may also be considered. Candidate qualifications include a conferred Ph.D. in Anthropology, or related field and an interest in mixed methods. The salary is $60,000 per year plus travel support including per diem while in the field.  The start date is September 1, 2016.
