Workshop: Natural Disaster: Inter-Asian Perspectives

We are writing to solicit applications to participate in a presentation-based workshop to be held at the Yale University Department of Anthropology on Saturday, April 12th. The workshop, entitled "'Natural' Disaster: Inter-Asian Perspectives," will offer a forum for late-stage graduate students, postdocs, and early-career faculty members to share new or in-process research, sited in locations across Asia, on 'natural' disasters, broadly construed. Work from various disciplines, in various local/regional contexts including Central Asia, South and Southeast Asia, and East Asia, will be considered.

Participants will prepare a 10-minute presentation covering some aspect of their research to share during the workshop. Applicants should submit a 750-word statement of interest, including a brief discussion of the content
of the presentation, the key themes and issues of the research, and possible areas of inter-Asian connection to be explored during the event.

Submission Deadline: March 14th, 2014

Notification of Acceptance: March 21st, 2014

Workshop date and location: Saturday, April 12th, 2014, Yale University Department of Anthropology (10 Sachem Street), New Haven, Connecticut.
